You’ve Seen The Sound of Hope: Possum Trot, Now What?

Feeling inspired to care for vulnerable kids, but not sure where to start?

The new movie, Sound of Hope: The Story of Possum Trot presents an incredible opportunity to mobilize your community to care for children in foster care. But sometimes it’s hard to know where to start without tangible to-dos.

We understand, and we’re here to help.

Here are a few practical first steps you can take today:

1. Pray

Pray for kids in foster care, for families’ hearts and homes to be open, for churches to mobilize on behalf of children. Please pray, also, for orphaned and vulnerable children around the world who are waiting for families.

We’d love to have you join our Prayer Team and receive a monthly update of prayer requests and praises from all across our ministry to orphans and vulnerable kids.

2. Research

If God is leading you to consider foster care, talk to someone you know who is ahead of you in the process. Ask for advice or ideas. Discover what local foster care training is available to you.

If you’re considering adoption, we highly recommend Loving Shepherd’s Adoption Assessment Form, which will ask you a variety of questions and help you narrow your options.

3. Mobilize

Help families in your church overcome the financial barriers to adoption by partnering with us to create a no-cost, personalized adoption fund at your church. Support families in your community with adoption resources before, during, and after bringing their child home.

4. Give

Reach orphans and vulnerable children in the U.S. and around the world.

We share the mission of Sound of Hope: Story of Possum Trot and believe God has called each of us to do something for children in need—some to adopt, some to care, and some to give. A gift to where most needed will help orphans become sons and daughters as well as provide essential support for ongoing ministry around the world.

You saw how the town of Possum Trot responded to the need. Now it’s your turn. What is God leading you to do?

Whatever it is, we’re here to encourage and support you.
